Pearl Jewelry Care

Real freshwater pearls are organic gemstones. They are a very soft gemstone only rating 2.5 on the Mohs Scale of Hardness, meaning pearls require special care to maintain their radiance and lustre over time. When not wearing your pearls, preserve their beauty by following these simple care and maintenance steps. Pearls are sensitive in nature, so don’t forget to treat them with love.

Make sure they are the last thing you put on before going out and the first thing you take off when you come home. Avoid direct contact with chemicals found in perfume or other cosmetics.

PEARL CARE
With each wear, it is important to wipe freshwater pearls with a soft, non-abrasive microfibre cloth. This process will ensure that any natural body oils, makeup and perfumes are wiped off the surface of the pearl. Any residual oils can damage the quality and colour of the pearl over time. If required, use warm soapy water (pure soap only) to remove any additional residue and ensure the pearls are completely dry.

Avoid wearing hand-strung freshwater pearls strands in water (salt or fresh water) as the moisture will perish the silk threading. Exposure to water can also affect the adhesive used for most pearl earrings. Additionally, the chemicals used in chlorinated water will permanently damage the finish of the pearl, resulting in a dull pearl with no lustre. It is recommended to remove any jewelry before showering, swimming or sweating to reduce exposure to moisture.

GOLD VERMEIL CARE
Before exercising or showering, remove your vermeil jewelry. Clean your piece by buffing gently with a dry cloth and store your it in your box or Pouch.

SOLID GOLD CARE
Everything deserves some loving, even something as strong as Gold. To maintain its beauty, scrub lightly with a toothbrush and warm water.

SILVER CARE
925 Sterling Silver is an alloy made of 92.5% pure Silver and 7.5% Copper. We plate our Silver jewelry in Rhodium, which gives it extra shine and durability. Silver is H2O sensitive. Avoid water when wearing your piece because over time the Sterling Silver will oxidize. You + Sterling Silver = Forever. The oils in your skin help keep Silver from oxidizing faster. So, wear often. Keep your piece in a Ziploc bag or well-sealed jewelry box.
